Camas, WA –A motor vehicle accident involving a wrong-way driver late Monday night, May 26, 2025, tragically claimed one life and injured two others.

As reported by KPTV.com, “[t]he crash occurred just before 11 p.m. on SR 14 near Exit 14 in Camas. Troopers say a Mercedes was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided head-on with another vehicle, killing one person and seriously injuring two others.”

According to the report, “[t]he victim killed in the crash was identified as Michael C. O’Brien, 18, of Portland. He was a senior at Roosevelt High School. In a letter to the school community Tuesday, Roosevelt High School Principal…confirmed that the two other victims…, both seniors—were hospitalized and in stable condition.”

KOIN.com is reporting, “[o]fficers say [the wrong-way driver] was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Washington State Police said [the driver] had likely been driving the wrong way for a while, because they got 10 calls that someone was driving the wrong way on SR14 as far back as Milepost 0 near Vancouver.”

The investigation is ongoing.
