As reported by ReviewJournal.com, “[t]he call came into police just after 12:10 p.m. at Crestdale Lane and North Town Center Drive, west of North Hualapai Way.”

According to the report, “[t]he victim was taken to University Medical Center Trauma, where she was in critical condition with nonlife-threatening injuries.”

The investigation is ongoing.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal collision Monday, March 25, 2019, that resulted in the death of a bicyclist. According to WFXG.com, “56-year-old James Hicks of Aiken was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by two vehicles at approximately 8:35 p.m. Monday in the one thousand block of York Street.” AugustaChronicle.com is reporting, “[James] Hicks was riding his bicycle attempting to cross York Street when he was struck by a southbound vehicle…Hicks was thrown into the north bound lane of York Street, struck by a northbound vehicle and was trapped underneath that vehicle.”

Media outlets indicate the investigation is ongoing.

According to WLTX.com, “the accident happened on Trinity Road in Lynchburg shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a 2010 Ford Edge struck a man walking along the road.” The news story reports “Freddy Nance of Lee County died at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence from injuries he suffered in the accident.” The driver of the vehicle “was arrested and faces one count of felony driving under the influence involving death and one count of hit and run,” according to TheItem.com.

According to ReviewJournal.com, “[a] bus driver was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after a woman was struck and killed Thursday morning [February 14] near the Las Vegas Strip.” Fox5vegas.com is reporting “[t]he pedestrian, a 59-year-old woman was crossing…at 3325 South Las Vegas Boulevard near a marked crosswalk…[when] [t]he bus, heading north, hit the woman on her left side and drove over her.” The news outlet reports “[t]he woman was taken to Sunrise hospital where she died from her injuries.” According to the Review-Journal story, the bus driver “was arrested after being suspected of impairment” and “faces a charge of driving under the influence resulting in death.” A subsequent update by ReviewJournal.com has identified the victim as “Las Vegas resident Pamela Lewis, 59.”

The accident remains under investigation per media reports.

A fatal Myrtle Beach pedestrian accident claimed the life of 32-year-old Ashlin Monteforte and left another victim injured January 1, 2019.

According to Myrtle Beach Online, “[Ms.] Monteforte died of injuries sustained after she was struck by two vehicles on U.S. 17.” A second pedestrian was transported to Grand Strand Regional Hospital with “serious, but not life-threatening injuries.” The surviving victim’s identity and condition have not been released.

South Carolina Highway Patrol told WMBF News, the driver has since been “charged with felony DUI resulting in death.”

A LAWYER “SHALL NOT” CONTACT A PROSPECTIVE CLIENT THROUGH A “LIVE TELEPHONE” OR AN “IN-PERSON” VISIT.

– RULE 7.3, ABA MODEL RULES OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT.

If an attorney, or someone acting on behalf of an attorney, contacts you in this manner, that attorney is in violation of this Rule. This unethical and unprofessional activity on the part of the lawyer is good sign that you should stay away. Mall Shoppers Face Distracted Drivers, Parking Lot Crime

AAA Mid-Atlantic warns, shoppers face an increased risk of distracted drivers and parking lot crime during the busy holiday season. They have released a list of parking lot safety guidelines for drivers, pedestrians and shoppers:

Stay on guard in parking lots. Be aware of your surroundings and park in well-lit areas when shopping during early morning hours and at night. When returning to your vehicle, have keys ready in hand, check under your car and in the back seat before getting in, and lock your doors as soon as you get in. Watch for loiterers and report suspicious people.
See and be seen. Use your headlights when scouring parking garages for spaces, even in the daytime. Avoid parking between a pair of tall SUVs or minivans where it might be hard for you to back out of the space. If you can’t see well enough to back out safely, get help from one of your passengers.
Slow down, buckle up and obey the laws. Drive the speed limit, stop at stop signs, don’t park in spaces designated for disabled persons, and don’t text and/or talk on the phone. Ensure all passengers are buckled up even if it is a short trip to another part of the parking lot, as even a low-speed collision can result in injuries.
Refrain from reverse. If possible, avoid backing out of a space by either backing into it or pulling through two spaces that are open nose-to-nose.
Look out for children and distracted pedestrians. It can be difficult to see small children in busy parking lots, who may make quick, unpredictable movements. Hold the hands of your children to keep them safe from traffic. Also, watch out for those focused on their smartphones.
Stay on track and alert. Pedestrians should use walkways and crosswalks, if available. If walking in the traffic lanes is unavoidable, be alert for subtle cues — including exhaust or reverse lights — that signal a vehicle is about to pull out.
Lock your car and hide valuables. Thieves like to window shop. Place all shopping bags and valuables in the trunk, including the GPS and its mount, and always lock your car. Remove any evidence, such as GPS suction cup marks from the vehicle’s windshield. It takes a thief just seconds to smash a window and steal your shopping loot.
