Teen Shot Outside Charlotte Theme Park

A 14-year-old boy was reportedly shot and injured in a theme park parking lot Monday, September 5, 2016.

According to WBTV News, police have charged the 22-year-old suspect who “allegedly shot a 14-year-old male in the bus parking lot of Carowinds after he inserted himself into a teenage argument that occurred earlier in the day.”

A spokesperson for Carowinds reportedly told WBTV, “the shooting event took place outside of the park” and “everyone is screened before being allowed inside.”

The theme park was apparently the subject of a prior assault investigation in 2012. In that incident, WSBTV reports, “two 16-year-olds were assaulted outside of a restaurant inside the park.”

Young Father Killed in Louisville Apartment Shooting

A shooting outside the City View Park Apartments in Louisville reportedly claimed the life of 23-year-old Derick Bussey, Jr. Sunday morning, September 4, 2016.

According to WLKY News, “[p]olice were called around midnight Sunday on a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Village West Drive at City View Park Apartments.” Mr. Bussey was discovered “at the door of his townhome” and transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to fatal injuries.

Family and friends apparently told media, Mr. Bussey “was a father who will be missed” and that the “violence has to stop.” A shooting apparently occurred “nearby on Magazine Street nine days [prior to the shooting],” per WLKY reports.

Fatal Crowley Apartment Shooting

21-year-old Ladracus Miller has reportedly succumbed to fatal injuries sustained in a Crowley apartment shooting Thursday, August 25, 2016.

According to KPEL 965, the shooting “happened at Kathy Apartments located at 100 Kathy-Meadows Lane in Crowley.” Police have allegedly since charged a suspect with “second-degree murder,” per KLFY News reports.

The apartment complex was apparently the subject of a previous shooting investigation in May 2016, according to KATC 3 reports.

Man Injured in Jacksonville Gentleman’s Club Shooting

A parking lot shooting outside Bottomz Up gentleman’s club in Jacksonville reportedly left one man seriously injured Wednesday, August 24, 2016.

According to Action News JAX, the shooting occurred, “just after 2 a.m. Wednesday at Bottomz Up strib club on Blanding Boulevard.” Police apparently told News JAX, “multiple shots were fired in the parking lot” and the victim was transported to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries.” His current condition has not been released.

“In the past four weeks, there were 22 reported crimes in the area. Five of those were assaults,” News 4 JAX reports.

Columbus Mourns Apartment Shooting Victim

Hundreds gathered to celebrate the life of Deonn Carter, a beloved member of the Columbus public safety community, who passed away August 20, 2016, following a robbery-shooting at the Parkside at Britt David apartment complex.

According to The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Mr. Carter lost his life “11 days after he was shot during an armed robbery attempt outside of the Parkside at Britt David Apartments on Armour Road.”

Mr. Carter’s mother, Suzette Ragland, apparently told police “her son had gone to get the mail when he was shot,” The Ledger-Enquirer reports. “When firefighters responded to the shooting at the apartment complex at 5443 Armour Road, they were shocked to learn it was Carter, who is known as a friend among local firefighters and police.”

Columbus police allegedly made two arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. Warrants have reportedly been issued for three other suspects, per media reports.

2 Killed in North Las Vegas Casino Shooting

A shooting outside the Silver Nugget Casino reportedly claimed the lives of 41-year-old Delven Rasberry and 45-year-old DeAndre Taylor Sunday, August 14, 2016.

According to ABC 13 News, “North Las Vegas Police are investigating a fatal double shooting at the Silver Nugget Casino.Police said a large group of men was hanging outside in the parking lot around 4 a.m. For unknown reasons, tensions arose and two men were shot. They both died on scene.”

Police have apparently not yet made an arrest in the fatal shootings. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports, the casino was the subject of a previous fatal shooting investigation in May.

Teen Killed, 3 Injured Walking Home from Convenience Store

A shooting outside a Glenwood Drive convenience store in Decatur reportedly claimed the life of 15-year-old Keaira Palmer and left two others injured Wednesday morning, August 3, 2016.

According to 11 Alive News, the shooting “took place in front of the S & N Superette convenience store on the 4100 Glenwood Road….After being shot, the girl ran to a nearby apartment complex. There she collapsed and neighbors tried to revive her.”

Miss Palmer’s mother, Lawanda Riley, reportedly told WSBTV News, her daughter had walked to the convenience store for chips and a drink when she was “caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting.”

Three other victims, ages 18, 19 and 25, were also shot during what police called “a running gun battle,” WSBTV reports. Two victims were reportedly transported to the hospital with injuries. Their current conditions have not been released.

A man was reportedly “shot and killed during an armed robbery” at the Bedford Park Apartments in Chamblee Sunday, July 10, 2016.

According to CBS 46 News, the fatal shooting “occurred at the Bedford Park Apartments in the 2700 block of Shallowford Road.” Media reports indicate area has a history of violent robberies. In April 2016, a woman was reportedly assaulted when “she walked in on three people trying to rob her…Bedford Park home,” according to The AJC. In December 2014, a man was “shot in the Bedford Park Apartments…after being robbed of his wallet,” per Brookhaven Post reports.

LaGrange Man Injured in Wood Glen Apartment Shooting

A LaGrange resident was reportedly airlifted to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound outside the Wood Glen Apartments Saturday, June 13, 2015.

According to LaGrange Daily News, a man was walking in front of the Wood Glen Apartments, on N. Cary Street, when he was struck in the thigh by a bullet. The victim did not see who shot him or where the bullet came from. A bystander found the victim and called police, around 11:00pm. The victim was later airlifted to the hospital with injuries. His current condition has not been released.

Police are apparently still searching for a gunman.

Decatur Apartment Shooting

A man was reportedly shot and injured outside The Parke on Covington apartments Wednesday, May 25, 2016, only one day after a fatal shooting occurred at the same complex.

According to Fox 5, “Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday police responded to The Parke on Covington complex on a shooting call.” A male victim apparently suffered a gunshot wound to the hip. He was transported to Grady Memorial with injuries.

Police told media “the same complex was the location of another shooting the night before.” That shooting apparently occurred in the parking lot. “A bullet hole from the earlier deadly shooting could be seen in a white Sonata parked in the complex….” Fox 5 reports. The details of that fatal shooting have not yet been released.

Police are still searching for suspects in both cases, presumably leaving residents concerned for the safety of their families. Media reports indicate another shooting may have occurred at the complex in October 2015.
