New Orleans, LA – Gunfire rang out at an apartment building Monday afternoon, May 12, 2025, leaving one child.
As reported by Fox8Alive.com, “a shootout happened just before 2 p.m. in the 2900 block of Lawrence Street, between Elizardi Boulevard and Jo Ann Place…the exchange of gunfire happened outside an apartment building. Multiple shell casings from different weapons were found at the scene.” The report indicates that “an 8-year-old girl rushed into her apartment with her mom when the gunfire erupted, but the child was shot in the head through the window.”
WWLtv.com is reporting, that the “9-year-old, [identified as] Lee’lani Brooks has died.” According to the report, “Brooks was shot in the head while rushing her little sibling to safety….”
