Second Dab Lounge Shooting Raises Grave Security Concerns
20-year-old Tyja Gray and 28-year-old Courtland VaShawn Wilburn were reportedly shot and injured at the Dab Lounge nightclub Sunday morning, April 30, 2017.
According to WRAL News, gunfire erupted at “Dab Lounge,” around 1:15 a.m. Initial media reports indicate “security inside the nightclub was trying to break up a disturbance when the shooting started.” Tyja Gray and Courtland Wilburn were transported to the hospital with injuries.
It is unclear whether weapon screenings were in place at the time of the shooting. The Fayetteville Observer reports, “police are investigating the establishment, as well as the shooting because of the fact that another person was shot near the nightclub in December.”

Our Legal Take
Generally, property owners are required to protect all patrons legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm. Should the facts of this matter reveal that the nigthclub owner or management failed to provide adequate security to protect those on its premises, Tyja Gray and Courtland Wilburn may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for their injuries.
Based upon its prior successful experience in handling security negligence claims on behalf of victims and their families, The Murray Law Firm suggests that photographs and a thorough, unbiased inspection of the property will need to be performed immediately, before any evidence may be repaired, damaged or destroyed. Given the complexities of pursuing a negligent security case, it is imperative that the victims retain an experienced attorney who can ensure the preservation of any and all evidence that may support such a claim.
