A young woman was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting at an Independence, MO mall Friday afternoon, Nov 10, 2023.

As reported by, “[multiple] people were injured, one critically, and three people were taken into police custody after a shooting Friday afternoon at [a local mall]. The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. in a common area of the mall, near the north entryway.” is reporting, “[a] pregnant woman who was shot and critically injured while inside [the mall]…died from those injuries.”

According to the report, “Karla Brown’s family said the 19-year-old passed away nearly a week after the shooting. The family said they made the decision to donate her organs so that she can live on through others. The shooting Friday afternoon injured two other people.”

The investigation is ongoing.
